Crusher Liners Material Used For Crusher Liners

Crusher liners are the most important parts of the crushing machines. The liners have a significant impact on milling performance. Therefore, the quality of liners does matter to boost the productivity of the crushers. These are the wear parts that play a key role in crushing the harshest and abrasive rocks.

The type of liners varies from crusher to crusher. For example, cone crushers have different liners set as compared to jaw crushers. In addition to this, each crusher uses different types of crushers. Mill crusher alone has alone multiple types of crushers such as single wave liners, shell liners, and discharge end liners, etc.

In this article, we will explain explains three major types of liners along with liners. Let`s start with the jaw crusher first:

  1. What is a Jaw Crusher?

A jaw crusher is the primary crushing machine that crushes the rocks based on the compression principle. As it is a primary crusher, it crushes the giant and toughest rocks on the primary stage. After going through the jaw crusher, the crushed material then passes through secondary and tertiary phases.

This machine contains the most robust liners for crushing stones. It is a toggle crusher with a set of vertical jaws. The first one is a fixed jaw and the other one is swing jaw. A fixed jaw is a stationary jaw that doesn`t move at all. The swing jaw is a moving jaw that moves back and forth for crushing the material.

Jaw Crusher Liners

Jaw crusher liners play an effective role in the crushing process. Both jaws contain different types of liners for crushing the hardest and abrasive materials. The liners are extremely sharps enough to crush the toughest and slippery rocks.

Some liners have specially designed for slippery rocks. Therefore, they have a strong grip over the crushing material that makes escaping impossible for the slippery rocks. You should choose a suitable type of liner based on the feed type. Because some liners are more appropriate for slippery rocks and others for non-slippery rocks.

Types of Jaw Crusher Liners

Similarly, some liners are designed for the hardest rocks and others for the soft stones. The liners of jaw crushers are available in many types. Here are a few renowned jaw crusher liners:

  1. Wide teeth liners
  2. Heavy-duty liners
  1. Sharp teeth liners
  2. Corrugated liners
  3. Tall tooth liners

We recommend you to go with high-quality liners. Because they will last for a long period and enhance the performance of the machine.

  1. What is a Cone Crusher?

Cone crushers are secondary crushing machines that can be used for primary crushing as well. Cone crushers contain two coned-shaped pieces of steel. The first one is an eccentrically rotating piece which is called a mantle. And, the other one is a stationary part which is known as a bowl.

The area between the mantle and bowl is a crushing chamber. A crushing chamber is a place where feeding material is entered into the machine. You can control the size of the gap between mantle and bowl. Mantle rotates and crush everything in the crushing chamber and turns that into small pieces.

Cone Crusher Liners

The chamber of cone crusher is lined with wear parts, namely the mantle and bowl liners. Both liners are made of manganese steel that can crush the hardest material in no time. The mantle generates the compressive and abrasive forces. The force applies to the stone and bowl liner – a stationary part – causing the rocks to break.

There are four types of cone crushers that includes spring cone, single-cylinder, compound cone, and hydraulic cone crusher. Here are the two primary types of liners used in cone crushers:

  1. What is a Mill Crusher?

Mill liners play a key role in protecting mill shell from the strong wear and tear. They not only protect mill shells but also transfer energy to the grinding charge in mill crushers.

Mill Crusher Liners

So mill liners can be categorized into three types as follows:

Ball Mill Liners

There are different types of ball mill liners available in the market. You can choose according to your requirements. For example, operators consider different factors when choosing a ball mill liners such as type of feeding material, strength, and size, etc. here are the most renowned mill liners:

Rod Mill liners

It is another most famous type of mill liner among operators. Here are some important rod mill liners available in the market:

SAG/ AG Mill Liners

There are three important types of SAG/ AG mill liners as follows:

Material Selection for Crusher Liners

The selection of material is made based on the types of crusher liners. When choosing a material, you should consider the strength of ore, size of feed material, and corrosion environment, etc. Here is a list of primary material used in crusher liners construction:

Manganese Steel

It is one of the most used materials for crusher liners. Almost all types of crusher liners are made of manganese steel. It works perfectly under stress and the substrate doesn`t lose its strength and can endure great impact without crack.

Low Carbon Chrome Moly Steel

Although its usage has been decreased after the arrival of high carbon chrome-moly steel. May operators still prefer it on the high carbon steel. Because it comes with some impact resistance and amazing wear characteristics. Plus, it is best when better impact resistance is required than high carbon chrome-moly steel.

Titanium Carbide

It is another renowned material used to manufacture crusher liners. Titanium carbide comes with amazing wearable characteristics that make it a good option for crusher liners construction. Liners that are made of titanium carbide last 2 to 4 times more than normal manganese steel liners.

High Carbon Chrome Moly Steel

This material comes in many variations based on different carbon and chrome contents. Its main advantage is that it is available at an affordable price. However, it is more brittle than chrome-moly white irons.
