High Manganese Cone Crusher Liners

What is manganese cone crusher liners?

Cone crusher liners include mantle and Concave. Mantle: Covers the cone head of the crusher to protect it from wear. It is the inner sacrificial wear liner that sits on the cone head. Concave: Sits in the upper frame of the crusher to protect it from wear. It is the outer sacrificial wear liner that sits inside the upper frame. They are the main crusher replacement parts. Because of the working conditions, manganese steel is the standard material choice for those liners. Those manganese steel mantle and concave are called manganese cone crusher liners.

Why manganese steel?

Manganese steel, also called Hadfield steel or mangalloy, is a steel alloy containing 12-14% manganese. Renowned for its high impact strength and resistance to abrasion in its hardened state, the steel is often described as the ultimate work hardening steel. Manganese steel has no equal its ability to work-harden. Although it is normally reported that a maximum hardness of about 550 BHN is obtainable, the typical maximum hardness on worn castings is in the 400–450 BHN range. With the impact of raw stone, the surface of manganese steel parts hardness higher and higher. Because of this characteristic, manganese steel is the standard material choice for crusher wear parts, which include cone crusher liners.

How many grades of manganese steel?

Except for the standard 12-14% manganese steel, there are also some other grades of manganese steel, such as Mn18 (17%-19% manganese), Mn22 (21%-23% manganese), Mn18Cr2 (17%-19% manganese with 2% chromium), Mn22Cr2 (21%-23% manganese with 2% chromium) , and manganese alloy steel (manganese with some rare elements) . How to choose the right grade of manganese steel?

Before choosing the right grade of manganese steel for your cone crusher liners, you need to know more about your material properties and hardness.

What is your material crushability?

Crushability means how easily is product broken into smaller fragments.

Crushability
CLASSIFICATION CRUSHABILITY
(%)
BOND WORK INDEX
(KWH/T)
LOS ANGELES
VALUE
UCS
(MPa)
Very Easy 50+ 0-7 27+ 0-90
Medium 40-50 7-10 22-27 90-150
Difficult 20-30 14-18 12-17 220-300
Very Difficult 10-20 18+ 5-12 300+

Notice:

BOND WORK INDEX: The amount of energy required by plants to crush material.

LOS ANGELES VALUE: The Los Angeles test is commonly used to evaluate the hardness of aggregates to find the suitability of aggregates for use in road construction. Therefore, the road aggregates should be hard enough to resist abrasion.

UCS (UNIAXIAL COMPRESSIVE STRENGTH): Predicting the strength and brittleness of rocks from a crushability index.

What is your material abrasiveness?

Abrasiveness: It is very important to know the abrasive qualities of the material you are looking to crush. Materials can be soft but abrasive. The abrasive nature of the material will dictate the estimated wear life of your wear parts and what metallurgy should be utilized.

Abrasiveness
CLASSIFICATION FRENCH ABRASIVENESS ( G/TON) ABRASION INDEX
Non Abrasive 0 – 100 0.0 – 0.1
Slightly Abrasive 100 – 600 0.1 – 0.4
Medium Abrasive 600 – 1200 0.4 – 0.6
Abrasive 1200 – 1700 0.6 – 0.8
Very Abrasive 1700 + 0.8 +

Notice:
FRENCH ABRASIVENESS: The Abrasivity Coefficient (ABR) is defined as the ratio of the plate`s weight loss to the mass of the tested material. The index is given in grams per ton and varies between 0 to over 2000, depending on whether the rock is respectively little or highly abrasive.

What is your material hardness?

The hardness of a material is a major consideration in the selection of the type of crusher to use. Hardness is a factor in the amount of wear and tear crushers and screens experience.

Material selection for your cone crusher liners

We supply various kinds of materials to suit to crush different materials.

Material Applications Properties
Mn14Cr2 hardest material, mildly abrasive material highest impact resistance, low abrasion resistance
Mn18Cr2 harder material, medium abrasive material higher impact resistance, better abrasion resistance than Mn14
Mn22Cr2 hard material, most abrasive material less impact resistance, better abrasion resistance than Mn18
Mn18Cr2+TIC hardest material, most abrasive material highest impact resistance, highest abrasion resistance
Alloy Steel harder material, medium abrasive material magnetic separation

Boda Machinery stocks and supplies an extensive range of aftermarket manganese cone crusher liners to suit the majority of the different makes and models of cone crushers in operation around the globe. All liners supplied by crusher spares are manufactured and machined to the highest quality standard and are all covered by our full guarantee for correct fitment and superior performance. Case studies and customer reports comparing our wear liners to other suppliers have displayed up to a 50% increase in wear life across various applications using the identical profile design, Our technical sales team, product engineers and pattern makers work closely together alongside our customers to develop and modify cone crusher liner designs to further increase wear life, some of these modified designs have increased wear life in excess of 300% over standard design liners.
